Is blogging a race, living and imitations of others?

Is blogging a race and imitations of others? Can you make blogging a living?
Thanks to Tj Holowaychuk for the beautiful visual representation.
This blog post is an honest account of all things blogging related. What are you hoping to get out of blogging?

First and foremost, it’s not a race. Just remember there are thousands and thousands of blogs out there, more being made every day, but yours is unique because you make it different! But, it is definitely not a race. Also, a race for what? Fame, acknowledgement of yourself, or success. Success is hard to define and it does differ person to person. Blogging shouldn’t be a race because the experience should be experienced by everyone, the good and bad things of being a blogger. There are many bad things but it’s just the experience and all in your mindset. Make your blog a representation of who you are. Don’t ever be scared to say your real opinion on things and don’t shy away from opportunities. Always try to remain kind and elegant while handling situations on the web because everyone can easily access (and screenshot) it. Blogging should be an enjoyable journey and it should be noted by everyone, you don’t deserve anything just because you started a blog. But, you do deserve to have your hard work noticed. You do deserve opportunities because of your hard work.

Many people have made a living out of being a social influencer but when you enjoy doing it then you don’t mind where it goes. So, don’t start off on the wrong intentions and work hard instead. If you genuinely work hard, then you will achieve and get to where you are meant to. There’s nothing to say that you can’t make a living out of being a social influencer if you have the correct intentions. Start with a pure intention and have it as a possibility but even if it never works out then don’t be disheartened and if it works out then good for you! I want to give an example of what I’m trying to say as I don’t want it to be taken into the wrong context or misinterpreted. If you start then don’t have the aim "Oh, I’m going to start a blog because I want to make money and I’m not going to work hard on my content." Instead be more like "I want to work hard and if it’s meant to happen then in the long term I’ll make it my job"

Personally, blogging for me is a hobby and it always will be. I love writing and getting my opinions across on my blog, as well as, helping others. I try to give an honest account of who I am as a person. Blogging is a great hobby as it fills me with such fulfilment and it’s a great escape to help you relax. But, if blogging for you is something completely different then that’s okay too. I hope it works out for you.

The last thing I want to talk about is imitating others. This may join with the first paragraph but don’t imitate others. Instead be yourself and show the world who you really are. If you get inspiration from someone, don’t copy every single thing they do. Instead put your own spin on things and be an inspiration for someone else. Represent yourself on your blog and show who you are!

I would love to know what you thought of this post. I know there will be things some people will not agree with or take things in the wrong way but these are my opinions. I would love to hear your opinion in the comment section below.

Thank you for reading.
Until next time, take care and keep smiling.
